From Tent to Police Station

In a previous post I said I’d talk about the police station I’ve moved in to, there’s actually a bit of a story behind it.
So here we go!

For one reason or another when I was 18 I decided to move out of my parents.
Which is fair enough but there was one problem.
I was still in college.

So what I ended up doing was selling all of my stuff!
My Macbook, guitar, amp, everything!

Why was I doing this?

To raise the money to buy a tent.
That was the only way I knew I could move out.

CRAZY I know.

Here’s the tent I was living in for a while:
(My first taste of freedom. I loved every minute of it.)

I took music for two years and the last gig I did was a solo acoustic gig. I learnt to sing, practiced a song and performed it to an applauding crowd. (While living in a tent).
I finished college with good grades.

Now with a lot of help off family and friends who supported me (I’m very grateful for their help) I moved into a one bed flat in Heywood.

I was there for two years and had the time of my life.
It was everything I’d been dreaming about since as far back as I could remember.
I have no regrets. Only happy memories..

I had a couple of jobs, one at Next but.. (I was late!). A joke among some of my friends, that’s another story.

Then at the beginning of this year in 2013 I started working at Vodafone.

I chose a job at Vodafone because it was in sales.
I see sales not just as a job but a life skill. It improves every aspect of your life because you face rejection and objection every day. (Usually off angry customers!)
After a while you get used to it and you can handle it without any negative emotion. You can calmly come to a solution to any problem.
Well, almost any problem. If I can’t solve their problem I transfer them though to customer services!
Most people shy away from sales.

They say things like:
It’s hard!
It’s risky!
I don’t want to sell!

The truth is we all sell in one way or another in our daily lives.

So here we are now, I achieved my dream of moving out of my parents.
I moved the goal post, aimed higher. I wanted to live in Manchester.
I now live 10 minutes from Manchester and can see the center from my window!

 What’s next?
I’m building a business that will set me free.

If you have a dream. Go for it. Period. Don’t let anyone talk you out of it.

If I thought,
Oh I don’t know.. it’s risky.
What if I fail?
I wouldn’t be where I am today. Who know’s where I’d be.

Most people run from risk all of their life and they die full of regrets and dreams that never came true.
Sometimes you don’t have all of the answers.
Sometimes you have to take a leap of faith. Like I did.
Anything is possible if you take action and believe in yourself. Anything.
I won’t let you down.

Thanks for reading.
